In the DoubleBOX project, based on the conflicts between architecture and identity, a tour of possible architectural recycling is proposed in ten emblematic buildings of contemporary Spanish architecture.

At present there are old architectural spaces, today used as art containers and whose function in the past were prisons (such as the MARCO in Vigo or the MEIAC in Badajoz), food markets (such as the Contemporary Art Center in Malaga), charitable centers (such as the CCCB in Barcelona or the MNCARS in Madrid), monasteries or churches (such as the CAAC in Seville, the Patio Herreriano Museum in Valladolid or the El Carmen art center in Valencia), have changed the use for which they were designed.

DoubleBOX proposes, in collaboration with the COAL members, a proposal of ideas related to the supposed uses and utilities to which each of these ten buildings can be used in the not too distant future.

The objective of the malpais/doubleBOX project is to propose a subjective view of the different interferences in the identity of some newly created architectures and to provoke a reflection between the container dialogue (architecture) and content (element that gives the identity to the construction).
